International Students
College of Saint Mary welcomes students from around the world who are ready to pursue their education in a supportive and mission-driven environment. Our campus community is committed to helping international students feel at home while developing the knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills needed to succeed.

International Student Requirements
International students can apply to CSM throughout the year. We recommend beginning the application process 6 to 12 months before your intended start term to allow time for document processing and visa preparation.
Admission requirements may vary depending on the program you choose, but most international applicants should expect to provide the following materials as part of the application process.
Academic Records
Students must submit official transcripts or certified copies of academic records from all schools attended. If documents are not in English, certified translations are required.
International students must also have their credentials evaluated by an approved evaluation service to verify that their education is equivalent to U.S. academic standards.
English Language Proficiency
Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency through one of the following exams:
- TOEFL iBT: minimum score of 80
- TOEFL PBT: minimum score of 550
- IELTS: minimum score of 6.5
Financial Documentation
International students must demonstrate the financial resources necessary to cover tuition, housing, and living expenses while studying in the United States.
This includes submitting bank statements and completing the International Student Declaration of Finances.
Additional Documentation
Students admitted to CSM will also need to submit additional materials required to process immigration documents, including:
- Copy of passport
- Financial documentation
- Information about dependents if applicable
- Additional documentation needed for the Form I-20 student visa process

Submit official transcripts and credential evaluations for all schools you have attended. Translations are required for documents not originally issued in English.
Also, be sure to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores that demonstrate English language proficiency.

- Testing should be conducted in the United States, no sooner than 3-6 months prior to college entrance and should be completed by the beginning of first semester.
- Cost associated with the tests are student’s responsibility.
