General Background
After earning her BSN, Dr. Vogt started her nursing career as a float pool nurse at Lakeside Hospital, working on medical-surgical units, progressive care and critical care units (CCU). She then worked in the cardiac catheterization lab at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Dr. Vogt served in leadership roles as a charge nurse and house supervisor. Her first experience in teaching was orienting new graduate nurses at the hospital, and precepting nursing students. After earning her MSN in nursing education, Dr. Vogt started working as an adjunct instructor teaching clinicals. In 2018, she started at College of Saint Mary teaching in the BSN program. At College of Saint Mary, Dr. Vogt has taught in NUR 100 (Introduction to Nursing), NUR 300 (Medical-Surgical Nursing) and NUR 303 (Multi-System Medical-Surgical Nursing). Dr. Vogt also teaches clinical for senior BSN students at various hospitals around the Omaha area. She has also taught in pharmacology courses and coordinated clinical. Dr. Vogt was involved in major curriculum changes in the BSN program, including implementation of active learning and preparing students for the Next Gen NCLEX. Dr. Vogt is passionate about preparing the next generation of nurses, who are equipped to handle the changing landscape of healthcare through clinical reasoning and critical thinking.
